The Mitchell Corporation was founded in 1963 by Stephen P. Mitchell. Together with his wife Charlotte, Mr. Mitchell effected the growth of The Mitchell Corporation so that it is now one of the Chicagoland’s leading independent insurance agencies. Mr. Mitchell had been the executive vice-president of a large loop insurance brokerage firm and held a number of other executive positions prior to this time which uniquely qualified him to form his own insurance agency. Serving as CEO until his retirement and chairman of the Board until his death in 1989, Mr. Mitchell surrounded himself with professionals and knowledgeable insurance personnel who today are The Mitchell Corporation.
The present employees together have over 130 years of service in the insurance business. With a deep faith in God, Mr. Mitchell adopted Romans 12:11 as a guide post for the agency. “Not slothful in business, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord” has grown to be the hallmark of service to clients by the staff of The Mitchell Corporation. Like most small businesses in America, The Mitchell Corporation employs several famiy members and others who have come to feel like family. The staff likes to think in a greater sense of all their clients as a family and count it their privilege to serve the family as their insurance agents, brokers and consultants.
Lance Banninga

Lance W. Banninga has been with The Mitchell Corporation since 1969. A graduate of Hope College in Holland Michigan, Lance also holds the CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter) designation from the American College of Insurance in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.
Lance lives in Schererville, Indiana and is married to the former Nancy Mitchell. They have one son Steve, who is the President of The Mitchell Corporation.
Lance has held Positions on the Agents Advisory Boards of West Bend Mutual, Ansvar America, and Rockford Mutual Insurance Company. He has also been active on the boards of directors for his local church (Faith Church, Dyer) camp and retreat center, Christian school and foundation and other service organizations. Lance was an adjunct instructor in Insurance and Risk Management at Trinity Christian College for 20 years. In his leisure he enjoys golf and boating.
Steve Banninga

Stephen L. Banninga joined The Mitchell Corporation full time in June 1992, although he had worked part time since 1987. A 1992 graduate of Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Illinois, Steve is also a 1993 graduate of AETNA’s Home office Sales School, in Hartford, CT. and in 1997 earned the C.I.C (Certified Insurance Counselor) Designation.
Steve is the third generation at The Mitchell Corporation following in the footsteps of his father, Lance Banninga and his grandparents, Charlotte and Steve Mitchell.
Steve is a member of Faith Church in Dyer. He is an avid Chicago Sports fan, and a Bears Season Ticket Holder. Steve is also an alumnus of The Second City. In his leisure he enjoys playing golf.
Nick Kowalczyk

Nick Kowalczyk has been with The Mitchell Corporation since 2009. Nick is a 2003 graduate of Webber International University in Babson Park, Florida with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing. Nick loves learning about his client’s, both personally and commercially, so that he can partner with them and help navigate all the what if’s that come their way.
Nick has been married to his high school sweetheart, Teresa, since 2004. They live in Crown Point with their two kids. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing, going to Mount Carmel football and Marquette basketball games, spending time with his family, Disney, and planning their family’s next home project after his wife finds the inspiration on Pinterest.
Kyle Kuczwara

Kyle Kuczwara has been with The Mitchell Corporation Since December 1, 2017. Kyle is a 2015 Eastern Illinois University graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management. Since 2008 Kyle has also been employed at Olympia Fields Country club in the Outside Service Department.
Kyle has been hitting the ground running by helping many friends, family members and acquaintances he has met along the way with their insurance needs.
Kyle currently resides in Monee. In his spare time, Kyle enjoys golfing and attending various live sporting events. Kyle is an avid Chicago White Sox fan, and is an annual attendee of Sox Fest, and also a partial season ticket holder. Kyle is looking forward to the successful bright future that the Sox are promising.
Mary Green

Mary Green joined The Mitchell Corporation as an Insurance Consultant on October 1, 2012 after spending 21 years at another agency in Homewood, Illinois. Mary was first licensed in 1981 while working for another insurance agency and prior to that worked for two major insurance companies.
Mary’s husband Wayne, was a retired iron worker and recently passed away. They have one son, Sean, who is an I.T. Specialist and he has his Master’s Degree. Sean helped Mary set up a computer and office in her home so she can work from home as well as out of The Mitchell Corporation offices, serving clients in Illinois and Indiana.
Wendy Kizman

Wendy Kizman joined The Mitchell Corporation in April 2021. Wendy graduated from Concordia University in Mequon, Wisconsin and has over 20 years Supply Chain Management experience, most recently with Oil-Dri Corporation of America.
